Lost City profile - a photo on Flickriver

Lost City profile

            This photo shows some of the textures and colors on the east side of the Lost City I found in 2018 (Paria Plateau, Arizona). I call a large area of colorful domes at the eroding end of a sandstone mesa the Lost City. I've seen it 4 times now; before my visit, I never found photos of it anywhere. It takes a long drive and hike to get to it. There are more photos of the Lost City in my album Paria New Discoveries 2018. There are several other good points of interest in this vicinity I have explored and named.

At bottom right, highly contorted Navajo sandstone shows extensive soft sediment deformation. It gives way to smooth "brainrock" textures above. The stains progress from red-brown to salmon-orange to cream on top. For scale, the juniper trees at bottom are taller than people.
