Meet Jessica.  She stopped by Pro Photo Supply in Portland, OR to help out at our 'Small Flash, Big Portrait' seminar and workshop.

Jessica was a real sport.  She twisted, posed and kept smiling through over two hours of students making amazing images of her.

I grabbed this one just before we adjusted the lighting for a different look.

I was asked a question about setting the camera up to short-cut to the CLS Commander menu.  I figured that it would be easiest to post it somewhere could find it again.  Just in case.

Step 1) We need to figure out which button we want to build our shortcut.  In this example, it will be the Fn Button. This is the button located on the front of the camera... near the bottom of the grip side of the D750.

Step 2) We need to set-up My Menu.  First, access the menu.  next select the bottom tab (the tabs are on the left... we need the one that looks a bit like a sheet of paper with a check mark.  Next use the Multi-Selector to go into the menu.  IF the menu header reads My Menu, you are ready to go... skip down to Step 3.

If the header reads Recent Settings, use the Multi-Selector to move down the menu page until you find 'Choose Tab'.  From within the Choose Tab option, choose My Menu.

Step 3) From the tab that now reads MY MENU, use the Multi-Selector to highlight 'Add Items'. 

We are presented a list of menus.  Using the Multi-Selector, highlight the 'Custom Setting Menu'.  Next navigate to:

MY MENU > CUSTOM SETTING MENU > E3 (Flash Cntrl for Built-in Flash) > CMD (Commander Mode).  Press the OK button on your camera.  

This places the Commander menu option at the top of your My Menu.  This is where it needs to like to make this work.  (Note: you can still access the commander menu as before via the Custom menu.  This simply adds a second spot to acmes the commander menu.

Step 4) Now we need to make it really easy... we need to access the commander menu and set-up the Fn button to access our new shortcut.  Use the Multi-Selector to navigate here:

CUSTOM SETTING MENU (the pencil tab) > F2 > Access top item in MY MENU

Press the OK button.

You have now set the D750 up to link the Commander Menu to the Fn button.  In other words, press the Fn button and the Commander Menu will pop-up on the rear LCD.  (NOTE: The Commander Menu is ONLY available in the P, S, A or M exposure modes.)
