Two Years In The Making - a photo on Flickriver

            This was a shot attempted on my last visit to the Ceduna region in 2017 and was completely cloud bombed on both my shots of the loaded train coming into town in the morning. Literally a brilliantly sunny day except when we attempted to shoot the bloody train! It should be clear to see the appeal of the loaded train over the empty one from this photo, with the gypsum piled high above the hungry boards on the wagons. I dread to think what happens on windy days!

Anyway, in far more ideal conditions, 1606, 1603, 859 and 851 are powering hard to lift 4DD2, a loaded gypsum train up to Penong Junction - the junction where the line from Kevin rejoins the "mainline" from Port Lincoln. The mainline is out of use, only being used for 10km/h light engine and rare wagon transfers between the Thevenard and Port Lincoln depots.

Once again the vintage EMD NJ Class are outdoing their ALCo cousins when it comes to smoking it up. Not that we complained.
