The green wall - die grüne Wand - a photo on Flickriver

Here you can see one of my two absolute favorite pictures that I brought with me from Moravia in the Czech Republic.
Both photos were taken in the same place within an hour. And yet both photos have such a different effect that, with the best will in the world, I can't choose one. I'll show you number two soon.
For anyone who is interested, here is a short “making of” of the picture. I'm standing here above a valley and taking photos down to the bottom of the valley where this row of trees stands. This angle makes the slope behind the trees appear significantly steeper than it actually is. The rest of the effect is created by the fact that I block out the surrounding landscape with the telephoto lens, meaning that a comparison of the proportions is no longer possible. Then you just have to wait until a gap in the quickly passing clouds ensures that exactly the right area is illuminated, which can, by the way, take up to 30 minutes.
Your brain is doing the rest.

Hier seht Ihr eins meiner beiden absoluten Lieblingsbilder, die ich aus Mähren in der Tschechischen Republik mit gebracht habe.
Beide Fotos enstanden innerhalb von einer Stunde an der selben Stelle. Und doch haben beide Fotos eine so unterschiedliche Wirkung, dass ich mich beim besten Willen nicht für eins entscheiden kann. Nummer zwei zeige ich Euch dann demnächst.
Für alle, die es interessiert hier eine kurzes "making of" des Bildes. Ich stehe hier oberhalb eines Tales und fotografiere nach unten zur Talsohle, in der diese Baumreihe steht. Durch diesen Blickwinkel wirkt der Hang hinter den Bäumen deutlich steiler, als er in Wirklichkeit ist. Der Rest des Effektes entsteht dadurch, dass ich mit dem Teleobjektiv die umgebende Landschaft ausblende und somit kein Vergleich der Größenverhältnisse mehr möglich ist. Dann muss man nur noch warten, bis eine Lücke in den schnell vorbei ziehenden Wolken dafür sorgt, dass genau der richtige Bereich angestrahlt wird, was übrigens schonmal 30 Minuten dauern kann.
