Stained Glass, St. Paul's Cathedral, Kolkata (Calcutta)

            Constructed in 1847 St. Paul's serves as the Protestant Cathedral of Kolkata (Calcutta). Designed my Major William Forbes (1796 - 1855) the church is built in Indo - Gothic style.

The interior contains beautiful mosaics and stained glass. The western wall contains a huge stained glass dedicated to Lady Mayo and designed by Edward Burne - Jones. Famous Historian Nisitranjan Roy in his book Swasato Kolkata describes it as the finest stained glass in India.

The above photograph shows a small portion of the famous stained glass of St. Paul's Cathedral, Kolkata (Calcutta).

A permission from the Vicar is needed to photograph inside the cathedral.
