Moritzburg Castle - a photo on Flickriver

Moritzburg Castle

My 1:900 LEGO model of Moritzburg Castle in Germany, a Baroque hunting and pleasure palace to the north of Dresden. Going back to a hunting lodge from the 16th century, the castle and its surroundings were remodelled extensively for elector Augustus the Strong in the 18th century. Under supervision of architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann it turned into a prime example of Dresden Baroque.

The scale is rather small, which makes the model more abstract and a lot of the Baroque facade details hard to capture. But on the other hand it allowed adding the entire artificial island its situated on together with its landscaping.
