The Great Mosque of Djenné - a photo on Flickriver

My 1:400 LEGO model of the Great Mosque of Djenné, Mali, a prime example of Sahelian clay architecture and UNESCO World Heritage site. The photo shows the view from the northeastern side, showing the eastern wall with the three minarets and the main entrance on the northern side.

While the current incarnation of the building was built in 1906/7, it is a recreation of the original mosque from the 13th century and was built using traditional materials and techniques. It is therefore my entry in the African Setting category of Summer Joust 2022.
