Castel del Monte - a photo on Flickriver

Castel del Monte

My 1:900 LEGO model of Castel del Monte in Apulia, Italy, an edifice built in the 13th century by Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II, renowned for its characteristic octagonal design and a UNESCO World Heritage site for its unique blend of north European, Islamic and classical elements.

It is my entry for the 12x12 Vignette category of the Summer Joust 2022. I built it more or less spontaneously based on my current ventures into UNESCO sites and my recent rediscovery of the 6-wide octagon technique that I really like. In fact not only this technique but also Castel del Monte specifically already inspired my Summer Joust contributions last year.
