US Army Officer with Glock 19 Pistol

            After rigorous testing Glock pistols were selected for use by U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) for issue and use by subordinate commands. The GLOCK 19 was selected in 2008 to serve as the Combat Assault Pistol which is intended to serve as the primary sidearm of USASOC soldiers in most situations. The Glock 26 was selected for the Concealed Carry Pistol in 2009 and is intended to be used in situations where the overt display of a firearm is best avoided. Glock 19 and 26 pistols proved to be ideal for USASOC personnel due to their caliber, weight, size, and performance. Both are chambered in 9x19 mm which makes them easy to support logistically since that caliber is found in worldwide distribution and is the pistol caliber of choice for NATO forces as well as most of the rest of the world’s military services.
