Graveley Falls - Explored 209 - a photo on Flickriver

Earlier this week made a visit to Graveley Falls in the Headwaters State Forest in western NC. The hike was easy and about 0.6 miles. The waterfall itself is nice looking but photographically it's pretty limited. If you scurry down a steep slope to the base all there is a large shallow pool of water and that's it. No real foreground subjects or cascades to use. I was pleased with the color in the trees along the trail. This opening in the trees gave a nice way of framing the falls with autumn colors.

COLOR REPORT: I drove from Asheville to Rough Ridge today on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very nice color above the viaduct but colors were still coming in below. Colors along the Parkway itself were very nice and could be at or near peak. Some colors in the lower elevations but mostly muted. Area around Craggy Gardens looked pretty good. Hope the rain this weekend doesn't drop the leaves.
