Derelict J-549 at Ararat Loco Depot.

            Derelict Victorian Railways 2-8-0 steam loco J-549 is seen stored at Ararat loco depot, 130 miles west of Melbourne. The oil-burning "J" entered service in 1954 and was withdrawn from active service around 1972. It was then left here at the loco depot for over ten years before it was removed and restored to service at the Victorian Goldfields Railway at Maldon, Victoria.  J-549 is currently out of service pending repairs.12:31pm, Saturday the 29th of October, 1983.
