Cascading meadow

            Spring in Kochistan is on the March and now it's May. The week kneed complained about possible snow all the way through April... yet the Koch Bros have found a way to kill off the snow. Last year eDDie decided on a Rock Creek trek above Allenspark to hunt wildflowers and he called me up. I have been up there several times and knew the area and the route. I am sure that he was not ready for the experience. He was astounded by the number of campers that could pack into this narrow gully by the nasty road/trail, though I warned him. I have not been up here since the flood but it looks like it got hit. The Forest Service kindly marked eDDie's parking space with a "closed for revegetation" sign. Handy! I bailed his Blazer in a flash, well at my flash speed. I was ready to shoot with my long lens. The normal zoom would have been a lot better plan. I was already busy shooting when eDDie came by on his way after wildflowers; great because I stuck with my stream shots and ended up with some satisfying takes. 

We packed it in after a while and headed back toward Allenspark (named after one of the Longmont founders Alonzo (Lon) N. Allen) but happened on a field of wildflowers, I don't think that these are what eDDie was looking for but they are good enough for me. There enough wildflowers to pick from here! It almost looks like they were trying to take over the road. That would not be difficult. All this with a mild telephoto.

Actually, Rock Creek flows down and through Ferncliff instead of toward Allenspark. There are a large number of possibilities up this creek (pronounced crick in the Rockies); this was easier to keep the campers from the frame with my longer zoom. I usually feel that I left shots behind no matter where I visit, eDDie's or my spots. After editing some of my original shots of Rock Creek, I thought of the amazing bounty of camper cars that packed in up the trickle that I managed to keep from the frame. I decided to return and did. I will head further up the creek next time.
