Mountain maple - a photo on Flickriver

            It's looking like a deep stream side series is a-brew. This scrub beside the small stream stood in open light and exploded from the deep deep shadow. Maybe the tree is trying to make a bold statement while gradually growing tall. I love deep cover disclosures. The frills around the leaves suggest that this is normally a warm environment tree. Is it adapting to higher altitudes? The small stream hosts plenty of diverse growth along the rustic trail. I somehow assumed that I could edit the explosive range into a worthy image. 

Saturday, I made my Big Sky tour of Golden Ponds but early Sunday morning and after a cloudy heat-driven night, the heartbreak of an eDDie call struck. I finished my Golden skies trek on Saturday and could have used another 4 hours of shut eye in the cool morning but eDDie always overrules me.  A trek for me; a trek for eDDie. Trek? This trail starts nicely but soon becomes near bush whacking. Fortunately, it was still early-morning cool up here in the Boulder hills. Onward, camera in hand. Would there be anything to find in this tight canyon? And why do I need a load of more shots in my unedited stash? 

If only we could expect moisture to arrive later. Obese probability (slim chance) of that and no chance of eDDie understanding what he has in store while driving up Magnolia Road. I drove up once many years long ago but not since. I had suggested another, more reasonable way in. He swore that he would use a different return. Education comes from different routes; some from education; some from experiences, good and bad. 

This shows the saturated shade color and extreme sunny highlights along the trickle. Boy do I like the colors  and especially the shock of green. The deeply shaded background is across the trickle that's hard to detect on Google maps. Part way down, another stream joined in to increase the flow. It might dry up by August so here is a chance at captures. For now, I could use to jump in and get wet all over. At least the day is still crisp and I don't have to try to book an airline flight at the Phoenix airport. We're facing another steamy eve tonight!
