Focus on Color (Nikon D70s) - a photo on Flickriver

            Crayola pencils in daylight, shot with Nikon D70s, 50mm lens, in raw format, processed with Adobe Camera Raw.  This image has great detail, due to use of a non-zoom lens.

The idea of the exercise was to compare Nikon and Canon color registration.   My finding is that colors in the images are pretty much the same.  (after I tried to process their white balance & contrast to be as similar as possible).

The differences between the visible pencil "color" and the images (on my LCD screen) are quite significant.  In general the separation/contrast between color tones is diminished, relative to your eye.  I've added notes highlighting some bigger differences.

From what I have read, I would expect a result like this, because, the camera, the RGB color system, and the monitors all impose limits on what colors can be recorded and reproduced.
