Portrait of Gallienus? (Copenhagen 831)

            Although this portrait does not look exactly like others that have been attributed to the Roman emperor Gallienus, there is still a close resemblance.  It may represent the emperor when he was co-regent in 253-258 CE (as suggested by the curators of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek), or perhaps is the portrait of a man who adopted the manner of Gallienus's official portraiture.  The closely-cropped hair and beard are characteristic of the period.
