White Lakes Mall Topeka,KS - a photo on Flickriver

White Lakes Mall located at SW Topeka Blvd. & SW 37th St. in Topeka,KS. The mall which encompassed more than 280,000 square feet once had Sears and JCPenney as anchor tenants but when a new mall opened across town in 1988 both anchors left. Since the closure of both Sears and JCPenney the foot traffic in the mall declined more and more over the years with just a handful of independently owned businesses remaining in operation. A portion of the Sears building was reopened in 1992 as a Sutherlands Home Center but by 2002 the store closed and the building was vacant once again. Then in 2005 the Sears space was converted into a printing company operating under the name Mainline Printing. As of April 2017 the mall is no longer accessible and has signs posted at the doorways noting the property has been condemned. The printing firm is still in operation although it has no access to the mall.
