Point Lobos 230219-03 - a photo on Flickriver

            High contrast shot, shooting into the sun.  30 seconds Automated Frame Average. CPL filter could have reduced or eliminated the reflections from the wet rock surfaces, but I didn't think the reflections were distracting enough to use a CPL. I also thought without a CPL, the rocks really look wet.

The Rodenstock lenses produce a large image circle, which is why they can be used with Shift for keystone corrections and pano-stitching.  So these lenses don't come with a lens hood.  The only way to avoid flare is to use a tool that was used a lot by Ansel Adams: a hat to block off light falling on the lens!

I had to take several shots before I could completely avoid any flare.
