Schloss Halbturn / Halbturn Castle - a photo on Flickriver

Die barocke Schlossanlage von Schloss Halbturn wurde 1701 bis 1711 von Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt als Jagdschloss für Kaiser Karl VI. östlich des Neusiedlersees erbaut. Wenige Jahre später entstand rundherum die dazugehörige barocke Gartenanlage. Unter seiner Tochter Maria Theresia wurde das Schloss vom Hofbaumeister Franz Anton Hillebrandt umgebaut und wurde der Sommersitz von Albert von Sachsen-Teschen und Erzherzogin Marie Christine als Statthalter in Ungarn. 1945 wurde das Schloss von sowjetrussischen Besatzungssoldaten geplündert, 1949 brannte es ab, wobei nur der Mittelteil des Hauptgebäudes gerettet werden konnte. Erst nach und nach erfolgte die Rekonstruktion. Die Räume im Schloss werden heute als Ausstellungsort. für die Halbturner Schlosskonzerte, sowie als mietbare edle Hochzeits-Location genutzt.

The Baroque palace complex of Halbturn Castle was built between 1701 and 1711 by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt as a hunting lodge for Emperor Charles VI to the east of Lake Neusiedl. A few years later, the Baroque gardens were built around it. Under his daughter Maria Theresa, the palace was rebuilt by court architect Franz Anton Hillebrandt and became the summer residence of Albert of Saxe-Teschen and Archduchess Marie Christine as governors in Hungary. In 1945, the palace was looted by Soviet Russian occupation soldiers, and in 1949 it burned down, with only the central section of the main building being saved. Only gradually was it reconstructed. Today, the rooms in the castle are used as an exhibition venue, for the Halbturn Castle Concerts, and as a noble wedding location that can be rented.
