Piran & das Meer / Piran & the sea - a photo on Flickriver

            Der Ort Piran an der slowenischen Adriaküste steigt an einer Landzunge auf eine Klippe an, die Richtung Norden steil abfällt. Darunter ist ein schmaler Streifen Kiesstrand ausgebildet, der die längste Zeit des Tages im Schatten liegt. An heissen Sommertagen kann es vorteilhaft sein, einen Badeaufenthalt genau dort zu machen. Nicht nur des dann angenehmen Schattens wegen, der Sonnenbrand auf der Haut weitgehend verhindert, sondern auch, weil sich dort vergleichsweise wenige  Badegäste einfinden und man seine Ruhe hat.

The town of Piran on the Slovenian Adriatic coast rises from a headland onto a cliff that drops steeply to the north. Below it is a narrow strip of pebble beach, which is in the shade for most of the day. On hot summer days, it can be advantageous to take a dip right there. Not only because of the pleasant shade, which largely prevents sunburn on the skin, but also because there are comparatively few bathers and you have your peace and quiet.
