Shana - age 18

            My name is Shana. I’m 18 years old and I live in Vilvoorde (Belgium).  I study Latin-Modern Languages.  In my free time, I like reading, music, shopping, dancing and hanging out with my friends. When I was 14, I have been introduced to the gothic scene thanks to my best friend, who was interested in this subculture. I  fell in love immediately with this style. Some people think it's ugly or abnormal, but I disagree . I admired the fact that there were people who dressed the way they wanted and didn't care for other people’s opinion. I found the clothes and the music amazing  and I soon became a part of this subculture. I’ve been introduced to cyber gothic when they started selling those clothes in Antwerp.  I already liked the music because they often play it at the Vampire Party in Antwerp, where I go out sometimes.  When I go out, I dress cyber (but I often mix this style with other elements I like, I want to create my own unique style).  Sadly enough doesn’t everyone understand my style. Some people call me a freak or think I just want some attention. I think it's sad that some people don't dress or act the way they want because they are affraid of other people's reactions. The world would be a better place if everyone would accept eachother. 
This was my first photo shoot and it was a great experience. Rudi contacted me thanks to an article in the newspaper ‘Gazet van Antwerpen’. Hopefully I don’t look to amateurish on these pictures , but luckily he was patient with me and helped me a lot.
