Asia - China / Sisters' Meals Festival Of Miao Ethnic Group

            Tijdens deze reis maakten we één van de meest indrukwekkende festivals van Azië mee, het Sisters’ Meal Festival van de Miao bevolking.  Dit uitbundige festival staat geheel in tekenen van de jonge en huwbare vrouwen in de familie die op zoek zijn naar een geschikte huwelijkspartner. De mooiste kleren en hoofdtooien worden hierbij tevoorschijn gehaald en er wordt volop gelonkt naar de jongemannen. De voorbereiding van het feest duurt dagenlang; de allerbeste maaltijden worden bereid, mondorgels worden schoongeblazen, drums van nieuw vel voorzien en de paarden nog eens extra gevoederd en geborsteld. Wanneer de eerste dag van het festival dan eindelijk aanbreekt, verzamelt iedereen zich opgewonden in het dorp, en kan het feest beginnen! 

Het festival wordt in elk dorp weer anders gevierd, want iedere gemeenschap heeft zo zijn eigen tradities en activiteiten.
