Rhyolite Ghost Town - a photo on Flickriver

            Rhyolite Ghost Town at the foot of Sutherland Mountain. Gold was discovered here in 1904. By the height of the gold boom in 1908, the population had swollen to 8,000 people. Gold production began to fall two years later and the population fell. The Rhyolite Post Office closed in 1919 and the town was all but abandoned by 1920. Only eight decaying buildings remain today. Near Beatty, Nye Co., Nevada.
