F-4B Phantom II VF-111 Sundowners mod 3 refueling probe

F-4B-26-MC Phantom II of VF-111 "Sundowners", CVW-15, USS Coral Sea (CVA-43), 1972.

Deployed in-flight refueling probe of the F-4B. All Navy/Marine Corps versions had a retractable probe for aerial refueling mounted on the right side of the forward fuselage, just below the RIO canopy. Air Force versions (and most export variants) instead used the "flying boom" style recepticle on the aircraft spine instead. This posed a problem for export users without tankers with booms, so many retrofitted their F-4s with fixed probe style pipes leading into the spine recepticle.

Revision of my earlier F-4 model, with newly redesigned nose and forward fuselage, canopies, all new intakes, recontoured rear fuselage, new leading edge flaps, new stabilators, and new poseable rudder. Model as shown is 100% buildable with available LEGO elements. Designed in LEGO Digital Designer, rendered with LDD to POVRay, and decaled digitally using Gimp 2.0.
