Ono Yoshimitsu's Katana in hand Kurashiki Sword Museum Kurashiki, Japan

I first saw Ono Yoshimitsu's sword on display at the Asian Pacific Museum in Pasadena California. I thought it had the most amazing hamon that I'd ever seen. Later on when I was researching him before my trip to Japan I visited the Kurashiki Sword Museum's web site. They had his wakizashi on their main page so I added the museum to my list of things to do. When I visited the museum I couldn't find it on display. I asked the staff thinking that I just missed it and that he would point it out for me, he seemed shocked that I was looking for that artist specifically. It turned out that it wasn't going to be displayed for another few months. I'd already excepted that I wouldn't be seeing it when to my surprise he went over and started opening their walk in safe. He laid out a red felt fabric on the table and brought out a wakizashi and katana. He took the handles off so I could see the signatures on the tangs, take pictures and view them up close (as long as I didn't breath on them). Later he put the handle back on the katana wrapped the wood in a plastic bag and let me pick it up!!!!! Every person in the room took a step back as soon as I lifted it up off the table. I can't describe how good it felt to hold that sword!
