Black Kite in flight - a photo on Flickriver

            The most common raptor, the Black Kites are mostly seen gliding and soaring on thermals in their search for food. In India, the population of the subspecies 'govinda' is particularly large especially in areas of high human population. Here the birds avoid heavily forested regions.
