Mossend - a photo on Flickriver

Mossend

With it being my first outing with the drone I took the advice of other users and looked for an open field to get to grips with it. It just so happens that there is such a field next to Mossend yard which provided an ideal opportunity to also test the camera.

The yard is divided by the Coatbridge lines. A breakdown of what is on each side is as follows:

On the East side (right side of the image) is the Euroterminal loading pad which was occupied by recently-arrived 4S43. On the other side of the fence next to the EWS-liveried 66 is the "Up" yard with 4N30 facing North for departure to Grangemouth. Lastly, the loco holding sidings are occupied by 90044 and 90014 alongside a trio of Class 325's.

On the West side (Top of the image) is the "Down" yard and DB's loco inspection point. The concrete pad is PD Stirling's loading area and the silos in the top left are used by the cement trains from Clitheroe. Left of the the silos is the STVA compound which handles the cars off 6X77 when it runs.

The site is already expansive, however it is in line for another major expansion under the "Mossend International Railfreight Park" project which is detailed here: mirp.co.uk/
