My Heart Aches for Maui: Maria Lanakila Catholic Church

            UPDATE: The church thankfully survived. But the devastation to Lahaina is still incredible. Please keep the town in your thoughts and help in any way you can.

As of this posting there is no confirmation, but it is assumed this beautiful church has been completely destroyed by fire, along with most of the town of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.

I have spent all day reeling in horror over what's happening. Lahaina, the town where we stay during our trips, has been completely destroyed. There are videos on Twitter of bodies in the streets, hundreds of displaced homes, people evacuating into the ocean, and post after post of people searching for missing friends and family.

I'm not religious, but I've always been drawn to the majesty of religious architecture.
