5/7 Leopard and cub, Jawai, Rajasthan

            This region in Jawai is Ziya territory. The leopardess had had three cubs earlier that week. That morning, however, an unexpected male showed up. I was incredibly lucky to witness Ziya move her cubs, one by one, to a safer location. This is a sequence of  7 photos depicting her relocating cub no. 2.  We waited for an hour for her to return for cub 3. But she never showed up until very late in the eve. The oblivious worshipers who walk up and down those stairs that lead to a temple had probably spooked her. Leopards have co-existed in this region for millennia with humans.
