I saw a trend in recent years where photographers process their portraits as these high local luminance contrast with low saturation renderings. It always give a rather mysterious “look” to their photos so I tried my hands in creating something similar.

I do not normally work with studio photography so I do self-portraits mostly as I am the only available subject. In usual fashion, I am most natural when I am not aware of the camera, so I close my eyes and let the TC-80N3 does its timed interval shots.

The background a black canvas I recently fetched on Taobao for 45 RMB, and I see now that it has its limits. Although the canvas is more durable, it does not distribute light as evenly as paper, so I might do some more shopping in the future.
