Manchester Street Station - a photo on Flickriver

The Manchester Street Station has been in operation since 1903. Over the years the plant has been expanded and was extensively upgraded and modernized in 1995 which switched it primary fuel from oil to gas turbine. In addition to direct power generation from the gas-turbines the exhaust gases are harnessed to make steam for three new steam turbines. This latest upgrade cost a half billion dollars and doubled the plants efficiency and boosted it's capacity to 495 megawatts.

This shot was taken from the Providence River Bridge most commonly referred to as the Point Street Bridge is a historic swing span truss bridge built in 1927 by the Boston Bridge Works. The only post processing done to the image was slight crop to eliminate an unwanted element on the right hand side of the photo.
