You don't generally associate Thailand with Christianity, do you?

            This was a day or surprises! Firstly a long drawn visit to Wat Pho where being Sunday, I could spot groups of school children being taught various aspects of Thai culture and fine arts (see previous pictures earlier in this album). Then this part of town- Thonburi- which is across the Chao Phraya river and which you associate largely with Wat Arun. So Wat Kanlayanamit was a big surprise. Then the Guanyin shrine. (see previous pictures earlier in this album for those). And now this- the biggest surprise of them all. You don't generally associate Thailand with Christianity, do you? Buddhism-yes, to much smaller extent Hinduism, and then Islam in the deep south of Thailand. But Christianity? No wonder this is part of the Kudi Chin hidden community. This is the entrance signboard at the Santa Cruz church in Bangkok. While pictures of the church itself appear immediately after this, (see subsequent pictures), this sign is fairly self explanatory when viewed in full screen or expanded mode, so I will save you the commentary.
