Sunrise by Valerio Berruti (Explore)

            This is a sculpture in the town of Alba in Northern Italy where I have just spent 4 days attending a course at our company's Italian HQ.

The sculpture is dedicated to Michele Ferrero who took his father's sweet company and built it into a global brand with Nutella and Kinder Bueno to name but two of the brands. As I work for Ferrero I thought it would be good to try and capture the sculpture in a photograph.
 
"The sculpture is 12.5 meters high and made out of inox iron.

The title of the work “Sunrise” is the Italian translation of the town’s name Alba. This is a clear homage to the land on which the sculpture stands and at the same time, Alba is an Italian name for a girl, to emphasize the poetic aspect of the capital of the region of Langhe. Valerio Berruti chose a young girl with a shy and bashful pose. The artwork is a monument to life, a reminder addressed to the viewer which aims to take him back to his childhood, a moment of life when anything can still happen." (adapted from an online source)
