The patrol from the 507th Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Unit, U.S. Third Army, hiked at least 20 miles in freezing weather through snow-covered hills and forests for meeting with U.S. First Army troops. They are greeted by men of the 24th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, VII Corps, U.S. First Army. La Roche, Belgium. 15 January, 1945.
