Rough Seas and the Central Pier @ Blackpool

Taken on sunday 28th Oct 2007 on Blackpool's promenade after a fairly heavy nite out on Cormac's Stag weekend - thought we'd get some fresh air to clean out the olde system.

The tide was very high at that time of day and this wave is crashing off of some new sea defenses being put up to protect Blackpool's waterfront area (called the promenade).

You can really see why these new defenses are needed - I got quite wet just after this shot from a big wave that crept in to my right of this shot (its breaking on the new steel substructure for the defenses) !

Great stuff here about ocean waves.
