Anthicid beetle Lemodes coccinea - a photo on Flickriver

            Anthicid beetle Lemodes coccinea.  This predatory beetle was watched as it wandered around on an old tree-trunk, looking very much like a large velvet-mite.  Though quite common on the southeast mainland of Australia, it appears to be a rare species in Tasmania. It was photographed during our Bush Blitz on Flinders Island in March 2014.
