CT colon hepatic flexure syndrome IBS slow transit

            The bend at the hepatic flexure collapses every night or traps an air bubble, preventing BMM (Big Mass Movement, the big motility that comes along every 1,5 hours) to move matter from ascending colon into traverse colon. The ascending colon swells, pain, awakening and insomnia. A fibre restricted diet, eating non-gas causing foods (FODMAP), eating early in the day and having a walk in the evening, together with rotating positions when in bed, prolong the sleep from 4,5 hours to 6 hours. Mindfulness during the day plus anti-dustmite measures prevent a severe stress-reaction at night, when wakened. Swelling and awakening still occur but turning on side and belly is enough to fall asleep again. No more insomnia. But still no sound sleep.

(all other causes of insomnia have been ruled out. Sleep apneu, sleep routine, psychological factors, blood sugar etc. However an arousal of the Sympathetic Nervous System does occur and remains for 1,5 hours)
