When I saw that the WAH theme for the day is ”yuck!” I knew immediately where to go for a reliable scene of dismaying funk.

There is a creek near my home that is the first place I started taking photographs in 2011. It is, or was, a charming urban stream that absolutely delighted me on many occasions and serves a very practical purpose in flood control. But over the years the City tired of dealing with the problems people introduce, and found it easier to gradually fence, gate, and then lock the area away. There is just one little stretch left accessible – and at one end, near a roadway underpass, it ALWAYS looks like this. At the other end it looks like the old shot I’ve linked in the first comment box below.
