Wrong Way

            The Hidden Valley Nature Trail is a loop which for no reason at all I chose to follow in a clockwise direction. One of its landmarks that was pictured in my guidebook is a formation that's supposed to resemble the University of Southern California's mascot, a trojan. I was on the lookout and even photographed two rocks I thought  sort of looked like one, but I finished the trail and knew I hadn't seen the real thing. So I reversed direction and fortunately it wasn't too many minutes before The Trojan came into view. This is one of the rare times when I don't think much imagination is necessary to understand the name.

Seen in Joshua Tree National Park in the Mojave Desert in California. From there, I returned to my home in the Sonoran Desert, and tomorrow I'm on my way back to the Chihuahuan... hope to see some good wildflowers and cactus in bloom, and to camp high enough to get out of the heat.
