Bidein a' Ghlas Thuill View - a photo on Flickriver

            On my recent trip to Scotland there was one day where the weather looked promising enough for me to hike up a mountain (a Munro or lower). The one I'd chosen was An Teallach, the views from the summit of which looked pretty impressive. 

I was staying nearby, so a hike up and down to the highest peak - Bidein a' Ghlas Thuill seemed possible. The weather as I started off was a bit grey, but not too bad, and the sun came out as I hiked uphill. The path was steep, rocky and boggy, and not enjoyable at all! I eventually made it to the first ridge and the sun disappeared. 

The last section was pretty much scrambling over slabs of Torridonian sandstone - easy scrambling thankfully, as the wind picked up. I got to the top and boy, what a view! I didn't stay long, took a few photos, and headed down. 

The journey down was even worse as my left knee started to hurt badly (no poles, and the tripod I lugged up there doesn't double up as a pole!). There was some wonderful light in the distance as I neared the bottom. I was very glad to get back to the car, but knew I had another small slog at the end - I was staying in a treehouse cabin that was reached by a 4-5 minute uphill walk!! Fortunately the weather the following two days was terrible, so I didn't need to walk anywhere...
