Under the Pawpaw Tree - a photo on Flickriver

            The best way to see the flowers of the Pawpaw tree is from underneath. They have a faint scent and are pollinated by carrion and fruit flies. Whitetail deer don't browse on them and they have almost no insect pests. The leaves produce acetogenins, a natural insecticide. Zebra Swallowtails are one exception and their larva feed exclusively on the Pawpaw.
