Queen's wreath Vine, Petrea volubilis, El Salvador

Queen's Wreath, Sandpaper Vine, Purple Wreath, Blue Bird Vine, Fleur de Dieu are common names of this beautiful vine.
Origin to be said Mexico and Central America but others say Brazil. Don't mix the name with Antigonon Leptopus or coral vine.  Such a sharp contrast between the soft, delicate flowers and the harsh, crisp leaves of the Purple Wreath is most unexpected! Even the new leaves are stiff and papery. This is a twining vine with rough green leaves and spectacular clusters of purple flowers that come in raceme reaching over 1 foot long. The blue calices, with 15-30 flowers per raceme, remain for many days, slowly turning gray, looking terrific on dark green leaves background.

Petrea volubilis o Machiguá, es una especie de parra perennifolia originaria de México y Centroamérica. Tiene hermosísimos racimos de flores de hasta 30 centímetros, que cuelgan, en tonos entre azul y violeta.
La petrea lleva este nombre en honor al botánico Robert James Petre y es nativa de México y Centroamérica. Nombres comunes: Petrea,  Corona de Reina, Corona Púrpura.

Flor-de-são-miguel, Capela-de-viúva, Petréia, Touca-de-viúva, Viuvinha são os nomes comuns desta Trepadeira nativa do Brasil e muito florífera, excelente para recobrir pérgolas, pórticos e caramanchões. 

Un tel contraste entre les fleurs douces et délicates et les feuilles dures et croustillantes de la couronne pourpre est le plus inattendu! Même les nouvelles feuilles sont raides et papyracées. Il s'agit d'une liane avec des feuilles vertes rugueuses et des grappes spectaculaires de fleurs pourpres qui viennent en racème atteignant plus d'un pied de long. Les calices bleus, avec 15-30 fleurs par grappe, restent pendant plusieurs jours, devenant lentement gris, semblant terribles sur fond de feuilles vert foncé.

Un forte contrasto tra i fiori morbidi e delicati e le foglie dure e croccanti della Corona Viola è inaspettata! Anche le nuove foglie sono rigide e cartacee. Si tratta di un vigneto con foglie verdi e spettacolari cluster di fiori viola che vengono in racemo raggiungendo oltre un metro di lunghezza. I calici blu, con 15-30 fiori per racemo, rimangono per molti giorni, lentamente grigio, guardando alti sullo sfondo di foglie verdi scure.

Dies ist eine sich windende Ranke mit rauen, grünen Blättern und spektakulären Ansammlungen von purpurroten Blüten, die in einer Ranke von über 1 Fuß Länge kommen. Die blauen Calices, mit 15-30 Blüten pro Traube, bleiben für viele Tage, werden langsam grau und sehen auf dunkelgrünen Blättern großartig aus.
