White Trumpet Tree, Ipê Branco, El Salvador

White Trumpet Tree is a tree native to Brazil, and is used as an ornamental tree. It grows 7-16 m tall. It is a close cousin of the more common Pink Trumpet Tree. In winters, it sheds its leaves so that the tree is almost bare. And clusters of pinkish white trumpet-shaped flowers appear on bare branches. The flowers have a yellow throat. The fruit is 18 cm long, green and smooth.
 
Ipê-branco é uma árvore brasileira, descrita inicialmente em 1890 como Bignonia roseo-alba.
Seus nomes, tanto científico quanto popular, vêm do tupi-guarani: ipê significa "árvore de casca grossa" e tabebuia é "pau" ou "madeira que flutua".
É uma árvore usada como ornamental, nativa do cerrado e pantanal brasileiros.
É conhecida como planta do mel no Brasil e Argentina.
 
Tabebuia roseo-alba, conocida como ipé blanco o lapacho blanco, es un árbol nativo del Cerrado y Pantanal de Brasil. Es una planta usada como planta ornamental en Brasil y Argentina. También es usada como planta mielífera. Tiene algunos ejemplares en El Salvador, a camino del Aeropuerto y en la Panamericana despues de San Miguel y del lado opuesto, cerca del Municipio de El Congo, na Autopista Panamericana con destino a Guatemala.  Esta foto fue hecha en un terreno de la Construtora Bolivar en la Av Magnolias.
