Snow blossoms

            Not exactly spring......

The "buds" are actually the remains of the centre of bracts on the Davidia, or Handkerchief Tree, a rare tree that came originally from the Sichuan area of China (discovered by Father Armand David, a Vincentian missionary, who collected the first specimen in the 19th century). He was also the first westerner to describe the Panda.
