Weevil - a photo on Flickriver

Weevil

            Spotted by Lucy on a gatepost along Higher Ropes Drove, the track which leads the Heath part of the Catcott Complex NNR. There are very few insects active at this time of the year, but this one appeared to have been tempted out of a hole in the gatepost by the bright winter sunshine (which I learned this week is known as 'apricity' 🌞 ).

I have a couple of candidates for the species, but at the time of posting I'm still researching...
