Black Igneous Dyke intrusion into Granodiorite (Granitic) Rock, Finlayson Point, Victoria, BC, Canada

There are 2 main types of intrusive igneous rock in the image, the country rock comprises Granodiorite which fine to medium grained crystalline and pale greenish grey in colour.  Granodiorite is made up of sodium and potassium feldspar, and quartz with minor dark minerals (biotite / hornblende)

Black Igneous intrusive Dyke cutting through granitic rock is probably basalt and the contact is extremely sharp.  Locally there is also an abundance of Migmatite and dark patches of Gabbro.
