La voie normale actuelle qu'emprunta (peut-être) Antoine de Ville (le plus ancien alpiniste/grimpeur répertorié de l'histoire!) lors de la première ascension en 1492 emprunte le haut de la profonde cheminée qui entaille le milieu de la face, tandis que la voie empruntée pour la descente à skis (si, si...) est le couloir partiellement enneigé qui se trouve plus à droite, aussi utilisé pour la descente en rappel en été.

The current "normal route", the one used (supposedly) by Antoine de Ville (the first registered rock climber in history!) on his first ascent of Mont Aiguille in 1492 (yes, that very year, 3 months before another "first" by another, more well known, explorer) goes through the upper part deep gash in the center of the face.
Antoine de Ville (a military commander acting on the order of king Charles VIII) used a paraphernalia of ladders and hooks, with support from a retinue of servants, so this would not count as "free climbing" by current standards ;-)...
He set up camp for a full week on the plateau at the top, where he reportedly came across a small herd of chamois...
