7 Sierakowskiego Street - a photo on Flickriver

            This building, which dates from 1926, was originally a hall of residence for Jewish students. The letters "AAJ" above the doorway are an abbreviation of "Auxilium Academicum Judaicum". Menachem Begin lived here while studying law at the Unversity of Warsaw.... 

After the Second World War the building became an office of the Ministry of Public Security. A nearby plaque commemorates the people who were imprisoned and murdered here by the Soviet NKVD and Polish communist UB during the era of Stalinist terror in Poland (1944 - 1956).
