            Manly Ferries @ Circular Quay on a foggy June 1979 weekday morning.

Crew of the 1922-built Baragoola (left of image, and moored @ East Circular Quay) look on in the guise of professional spectators as the fully-loaded North Head slowly and gingerly makes her way into Wharf 3 Circular Quay with a capacity crowd of morning commuters.

According to the sequence of photos (of which this image is just one) North Head had made an approach to the Circular Quay berth, reversed back out again as her skipper discerned that his line of approach was incorrect (due to such poor and limited visibility), and then completed a successful docking on the second try.

Baragoola had presumably moved across to East Circular Quay after an earlier fog-bound trip across Sydney Harbour from Manly Wharf in order to make way for North Head's anticipated later arrival.  Nobody was going anywhere further at this point.

From memory this fog - not unusual for a midwinter morning in Sydney - cleared later that morning to make way for a pristine blue sky Sydney day.
