Chrysis rutilans (Chrysididae) - a photo on Flickriver

            This super-rare cuckoo wasp was one my my best finds this year. I found it in a promising looking bit of dry, rough ground close to an apartment block. The species is very similar to C. splendidula. They are beyond my ability to distinguish, so I am relying on an iNat identification of someone with a lot more experience.
