Upland Goose / Magellan Goose (Chloephaga picta), Laguna Nimez, Area Protegida Reserva Ecológica Municipal, El Calafate, Argentina

At the town of El Calafate, we had one day "off" so to speak, from our busy trip schedule. We were just waiting for the following day to go to the famous glacier Perito Moreno, so we walked around the town and it turns out that there is a natural reserve at a walking distance from the town called Laguna Nimez. At this lagoon we were able to observe numerous kinds of birds including the beautiful Chilean Flamingo.

It was a quite easy walk just a little outside the town and yes, some may dispute, but for us it was definitely worth spending some time at the easy flat hike - we got to see perhaps around ten different kinds of birds that day.
